CIVIL ENGINEERING

"There are not enough qualified civil engineers to meet critical needs."

Occasionally, someone asks where the term "civil" engineers came from and what it means. The original engineers designed forts, bridges, and roads for the military and were called "military" engineers. When engineers began using those skills for civilian purposes, they became known as "civil" engineers. These engineers, and their contributions, touch virtually every person on earth. In a sense, they are the very building blocks for our civilization. Our recruiters are dedicated professionals who stay current on the civil engineering industry, and its trends, and use that knowledge to identify top talent for top companies.

TRENDS

The unprecedented growth of our cities and rural communities, and the aging of existing civil infrastructure, has created a demand that cannot and is not being ignored. With the passage of the federal transportation act in 1998, federal funds have been allocated to state and local agencies for the maintenance and upgrade of national highways and infrastructure. Widespread upgrade and maintenance projects are funded, but there is a shortage of qualified civil infrastructure engineers to meet these critical needs. This shortage is projected to remain for the next 8 to 10 years.

CHALLENGES

No geographical local is currently without a shortage of qualified civil engineers. Good talent is at a premium and companies are competing for the top talent to meet their present and future challenges. Our pinpoint focus on the infrastructure industry enables us to identify and recruit the right person for those critical positions.
