Financial Accountant

They are looking for a Financial Accountant with 6-8 years experience and they will be responsible for the following: participate in monthly close process for financial statements, assist in the financial accounting and reporting process, familiar with derivative accounting as well as accounting for storage and transportation, assist in ensuring compliance with various contractual agreements, perform\analyze various contractual calculations including profit split, practical experience with gas & electricity trading including physical and financial settlements, assist in the development and documentation of desk manuals, review/analyze settlement activity, including actualization process, review and reconcile cash settlements, reconcile daily cash distributions and assist in the implementation/documentation of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance effort. AVP, Crude & Products System Development
Responsibilities include: providing 100% dedication to the system implementation effort as a subject matter expert for Crude Settlements and Confirmations. Specific duties include: Prepare business requirements documentation for use on the system build, conduct meetings with specific business users, identify key issues in the business that will need to translate into business requirements, provide status reporting to the Project Manager on at least a weekly basis, works directly with IT where necessary in translating business requirements into technical requirements, facilitate the User Acceptance testing phase of the system (identify & document key business scenarios and expected results for testing, etc.), participate in development of a user manual for the new system, primary facilitator of communication from the Confirms and Settlements areas of the business to the Project Team (PM, Technical Leads). Qualified candidates should be knowledgeable in the area of Crude & Products physical trading business. Specifically, the candidate must have knowledge of confirmations and settlements (AR/AP, invoicing, industry standards, pricing, etc.) as well as has distinct understanding of a transactions flow (deal capture to cash flow) for a traded commodity. Knowledgeable in system implementations: gathering business requirements, prior participation in system implementations and vendor reviews, has a basic understanding of technical aspects in regards to interfaces and integration. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others (key is listening skills and documentation). Accounting background is required, CPA is a plus.
